It’s not unusual for pregnant women to feel overwhelmed at times. There are several ways you can get help. Here are some resources:
Your local Health Department has several helps for pregnant women:
HANDS is a voluntary home visiting program for overburdened first time parents. They help you with learning about your health and planning for the baby. Call your local health department and ask for the HANDS coordinator.
WIC is a nutrition program for pregnant women, women who are breast feeding, and children. WIC provides nutritious foods, education about good food choices, and help and support with breast feeding. Smoking Cessation Counseling is available at most local health departments. You can also get help to quit from the telephone quit line:
1-800- QUIT-NOW [1-800-784-8669] The Quit Line can help you if you are pregnant, even if you are already going to classes to quit smoking.
