Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait is working with health care providers and community partners at three targeted intervention sites in Kentucky to reduce premature birth.  The initiative helps ensure that moms-to-be have the care and information they need to maintain healthy, full-term pregnancies, in order to give their babies the best possible start in life.

The three-year initiative, which began in January 2007, is made possible by the Prematurity Prevention Partnership between the March of Dimes, Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute and the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

If Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait is successful in reducing rates of premature birth in Kentucky, this model could be applied in other communities across the United States.
